2nd Solo [audio]

[Someone's found a cd player and a number of discs. He's saying the name of each piece simply before playing it via player.]

I can play all of these. I prefer classical, but modern cello is nice as well.

There's a few modern pieces I like. They're mostly folk songs that are guitar-based though.

Oh! Have you listened to these yet?

[Hoisting Rasputina CDs here.]

[He peers into the device.]

No. I have not.

It's a female cello-based band. I can't say I like them as much as folk music but some of the songs are very nice.

[He nods.]

I will listen to them, then. Are you listening to much music today?

A little. It seems like everyone is sharing. I didn't recognize a lot of them beyond yours but I'm not really good with a lot of modern music.

[And what she considers 'modern' is highly debatable.]

Perhaps it is an opportunity, to find something new you like?

[A subtle smile, as he is enjoying it a bit himself. And yes, his idea of 'modern' is possibly more skewed than hers.]

It's an opportunity for you too, don't forget. If there is one thing the City is good for, it's learning new things.

I'm sure I will have the time to learn many things, Saya. Perhaps you can take me on a tour of the City tomorrow?

[Because getting her out and away from Solomon as much as possible is somewhat of a goal. Unstated, because he won't admit to jealousy, but... Haji suddenly feels like he's lost time with her again and that it was lost to him rankles a little.]

[There's a momentary pause. Was Haji asking for something? It was only a tour but it was kind of surprising.]

[And she just lights up at it.]

Oh, of course! There's a lot of places here I haven't even been to yet.

[Well, he's asking mostly for her sake, but the way she lights up at the suggestion makes him happy. He was able to make her smile again. How long had it been since he could do that?]

Good. Perhaps we can start early, spend the day.

[It's a wonder what no fighting, no Chiropterans or Diva, no need to constantly push people away or loathe yourself for what you are can do for a girl's spirits. It's as if she's been freed of those shackles, shaking off a past of blood and wishes for death by the sheer will of her desire for normalcy and family.]

It's been a while since I've done that. Sometimes Solomon and I go out for the day but we don't really go explore the town. I'm probably not too good of a tour guide though but it should be fun.

We have traveled to new places before, perhaps this is little different.

[He thinks for a minute, trying to ignore the twinge at the idea of her going out with Solomon. He knows that Solomon means her no harm, he knows that he has no reason to worry. He also knows that who Saya spends her time with is her choice.

It doesn't make him feel any better about not being here for her all that time.]

We should find places you haven't gone to with Solomon. New places.
